Home / Who We Are
Ronald McDonald House in Australia is an independent non-profit organisation.
We operate an essential mission, enabling families to stay together, stay strong and promote healing when their ill or injured child needs healthcare.
We know that when families stay together, and cared for, they cope better. We believe no family should have to deal with their child’s medical treatment alone.
Our Mission
We provide essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare.
Our Vision
A world where every family has what they need to ensure the best health outcomes for their children.
Our Purpose
Caring for families with children who are ill or injured.
Across Australia, from capital cities to remote communities, our essential services wrap families with care, enabling them to stay together, stay strong and stay connected to everyday life. We give them something that feels like normal even when nothing else is, so they can focus on what matters most – caring for their ill or injured child.
Our programs remove barriers and provide practical, emotional and financial support for families throughout their child’s healthcare, all close to the hospital, for as long as they need it – to help make their journey a little easier.
When a child is in the hospital, family stays. And we stay with them.
Ronald McDonald House in Australia is an independent non-profit organisation that surrounds families with a community of support and the resources they need to stay at the heart of their child’s care and ensure the best possible health outcomes.
Ronald McDonald House Australia plays a central role by supporting and guiding our network of 11 local Chapters across the country. While each local Chapter operates independently, we provide overall leadership, ensure consistency in mission and values, and help with national fundraising, advocacy, and strategic direction.
This allows local Chapters to focus on providing direct support to families, while benefiting from the resources and connections of the national network.
In Australia we operate in a federated structure, meaning that Ronald McDonald House is made up of separate local Chapters that are connected by a common mission and brand, but each one operates independently. Each local Chapter has its own leadership and can make decisions that best suit its community, but they all work together under the Ronald McDonald House name to support families.
This setup allows us to be flexible and responsive to local needs while still benefiting from the support of the larger Ronald McDonald House network.
A Chapter is a local Ronald McDonald House in a specific area. Each of our 11 Chapters help families with ill or injured children in their community. While they operate on their own, they all follow the same mission and work together to support families across the country.
